Frequently Asked Questions

Job postings from 5 boards (JSearch, Remotive, Adzuna, Arbeitnow, Wellfound). The scoring engine parses each description, extracts skill names, and assigns a depth level. Skills need 15+ mentions across scored postings to appear in the index. The role pages show the same extraction broken down by job title.

  • L2: Has built small things with it, personal projects or bootcamp work.

  • L4: Solves hard problems with it, mentors others.
  • L5: Could architect a system around it or lead a team that depends on it.

The percentage of scored candidates who lack that skill at the depth the job requires. A 30% gap rate means roughly one in three applicants is missing it. High gaps can mean opportunity or unrealistic requirements, depending on context.

Click into any skill. The detail page includes a Top Roles table showing which job titles reference that skill most frequently. You can also approach it from the role side on the Role Intelligence pages.

Every 24 hours. The rebuild processes every scored posting in the database, recalculates demand rates, depth distributions, and gap rates, then publishes. As posting volume grows, more niche skills cross the 15-mention threshold automatically.
