Where Teal falls short
Teal's resume-tailoring output reads like a polished version of a generic resume, not a JD-specific one. It doesn't restructure bullets to match what the job description emphasizes. The AI catches keywords but misses context. ShouldApply's L1–L5 depth analysis reads the surrounding JD language to determine whether they need awareness-level knowledge or architect-grade expertise. That context is what makes the difference between a score that means something and a keyword match that doesn't.
Where ShouldApply falls short
ShouldApply doesn't have a Chrome extension yet. Teal's browser extension is genuinely convenient: you see a LinkedIn job, click one button, and it's saved to your tracker. ShouldApply requires copying the URL and pasting it. This is a real friction point and something on our roadmap.
ShouldApply doesn't have a Kanban job tracker. If you're managing 30+ active applications, Teal's pipeline view is better for staying organized. ShouldApply focuses on the decision to apply, not the tracking after.
The workflow that works best
- Browse jobs on LinkedIn or Indeed
- For each interesting listing, paste the URL into ShouldApply
- If the score is 70+, save it to Teal's tracker
- Use ShouldApply's gap report to tailor your resume for that specific role
- Track your application status in Teal
