Why we do this
Most job tools that target students charge $30 a month, then lock the actually-useful features behind a higher tier. We built ShouldApply because the existing tools were bad. Charging students full price for the same product is bad. So we don't. You get the real Pro tier, the same one paying users get, and you get it for 6 months long enough to land a real job. Nothing else attached.
FAQ
What counts as a valid .edu email?
Any email address ending in .edu. We grant 6 months of Pro access automatically when you sign up with one. We don't ask for proof of enrollment beyond the email itself, but the access is tied to that signup, so you can't transfer it to a non-.edu address later.
What happens after the 6 months are up?
Your account drops to the Free tier. Free still gives you 3 lifetime fit scores and access to the public job feed. If you want to keep unlimited scoring and the rest of Pro, you can upgrade to paid Pro at $14/mo. There's no card on file, so nothing auto-charges.
What if I graduate during the 6 months?
Your access stays active through the full 180-day window. We don't re-check your .edu email after signup. The 6 months are guaranteed.
What's actually included in Pro?
Unlimited fit scoring (instead of 3 lifetime), tailored resume generation per job, AI cover letters in 4 tones, interview prep questions, daily match email, ghost-job filtering, the full H-1B sponsorship database, and the visa-aware urgency timer if you're on F-1 OPT or CPT.
Do I need a resume to start?
No. You can start with just your skills and a target role. A resume unlocks the auto-tailoring and cover letter features, but the fit scoring works from your profile alone.
Can I share my login with classmates?
No. Each .edu account gets one set of 6 months. Sharing logins violates the terms and gets the account suspended. Each of your classmates can sign up with their own .edu and get their own 6 months.
Is my resume data private?
Yes. Your resume text is only used to score your own jobs. Never shared, never sold, never used to train anyone else's model. You can delete it from settings anytime.
What about international students or non-US schools?
Right now the auto-detect is .edu only. International edu domains (.ac.uk, .edu.au, etc.) aren't supported yet. If you're at a non-.edu institution and want student access, email mail@shouldapply.com and we'll handle it manually.
